Dub Trio - I can not express how awesome these guys are. Their setup is quite elaborate for a 3 man band. The microphones on the drummer run through effects so the bass player, guitar player, and drummer have control over delay effects. They combine dub (obvious), punk, metal, and even shoegaze to create something that is other worldly. These guys are basically what I feel the Beastie Boys only wish they could do musically.

Guess what movie I caught a few scenes from yesterday when I was eating lunch.

Uncle Buck!!! I also watched Coming to America a week ago. These are classic 80's movies. So the reason why I bring up Uncle Buck is because this movie reminds me of the time my good friend Dave Siegel looked up the soundtrack to find the song that plays at the end of the movie. For some reason John Hughes has this knack for picking out these awesome songs. Especially the ones at the end of John Candy movies. So Dave was in a desperate search for this song, but came up empty handed. He finally tracked down the song by Hugh Harris called "Rhythm of Life". Dave went out and bought the entire album and to his dismay everything else on the album was complete crap, except that one song. I later found this album years later in the bargain bin at Rasputin for 25 cents. I had to pick it up.

So you may be asking yourself, how can I listen to this song? I have a solution. I uploaded it. You have to listen to it when the drums come in. It's so awesome.

That was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. The Warriors seriously got the short end of the stick. If anything there should have been a no-call, or better yet how about a foul on Derek Fisher for grabbing Monta! You clearly see Fisher tripping over Harrington's foot, then as he goes down, he grabs Monta as they both go down. It was a great game up until then. Man those refs need to be dealt with or something. INSTANT REPLAY!

What is this??? 2 days in a row on my xanga? That hasn't happened in like 6 months. Maybe its time to revive this thing. How about a post about 80s cereal!

yeah yeah yeah...i've been gone from xanga...done with it, but maybe it's time to start it up once again. lets do a food post: Grilled Honey Salmon with a Corn and Tomato Relish over grilled asparagus. Stef took this dish and basically made it her own substituting some ingredients here and there. It was fabulous. The Caprese tomato salad was just stuff we threw together with leftover tomatoes, basil, and parmesan cheese we had, but it's so good for what can be considered leftover foods.

Who remembers Sledgehammer? When I was in the fifth grade, my friends and I loved this show. Years later I saw an episode on TV and it was terrible. Maybe that’s why it was cancelled.

Sledgehammer was a rogue cop who talked to his gun. His tagline was “Trust me. I know what I'm doing.”

Danny Elfman from Oingo Boingo wrote the theme song.

David Byrne and the Big Suit

You know, that guy from the Talking Heads who sings that “Burning Down the House” Song? You know who I am talking about.

First of all, let me know just say that I am an incredible dancer. In fact, once when I was in 8th grade a girl told me I danced like that guy with the big suit in the talking heads . . . which was awesome because it was the 80s and the Talking Heads ruled.

Anyway, turns out it wasn’t so awesome after all because apparently David Byrne was being “ironic,” whereas I just lacked coordination and style. Oh well – at least I talked to a girl in 8th grade, right?

I’m no match for Pat when it comes to blog posts about the 80s. Pat’s knowledge of 80s products, music, movies and tv is unsurpassed! However, since Pat has lost his will to blog, I’ll try to keep this going for the time-being. Hopefully, he will regain his blogging passion and return!

I’ve always wanted a computer just like the one Ferris Bueller had in the 1986 hit film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Ferris used his computer for two things: drawing (seen here) and hacking into the school’s computer system (to reduce his number of absences).
